@wdchrismon Actually, his house was investigated by the federal government. There's been some paperwork and information they kept on him released to the public.

when you know too much you suffer.

Dick expanded the Van Vogh tradition. By showing that what we thought was our "self", was not really our "self". His best plots, like Total Recall keep a multilevel ambiguity of mental realities going to reveal the vast gap between limited (usually police) mind and the infinite possibilities beyond the shattered self-image. The humor stems from this ironic take on fenced realities. He and Casteneda were hand in hand in two related, but different Gendres.

Philip K. Dick is the best Science Fiction writer for me along with jack Williamson and Henry Kuttner and Stanislaw Lem and Octavia Butler he writes with the mind first - very Kafka. He's not the best writer technically but he has washing levels of emotion and feeling in his stories just the same.

What are you talking about? The only deficit here is in your writing proficiency.
-
it is somehow important to you that the sacking of his house be classified as "true" or "false"? i wonder if this points up some deficit in the way your mind processes information.
-
Wasn't he a paranoid schizophrenic? Not that that would disqualify him the Top 10 Best Writers Ever list. But I"m pretty sure that bit about his house getting sacked is partially false.
He was a genius and his life was very sad.
