Judge Sonia Sotomayor met this morning with Senate Democrats. The judge is President Barack Obama's nominee to fill the United States Supreme Court seat held by retiring Justice David Souter. At the Capitol today, Sotomayor met Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy. Reid has endorsed Judge Sotomayor and said he will now work to quickly confirm her in the Senate. Sotomayor would be the first Hispanic and third woman to serve on the Supreme Court. Her meetings with Senators will continue this week.
