@drfell2907 bout all he could do

Keating was great. He set Australia up for a decades plus of prosperity.
Especially the superannuation scheme. Unfortunately Howard and Costello came along afterwards, and pissed it all up against the wall in ridiculous tax cuts, popular at the time, but without explanation to people what that really meant long term for Australia and middle-income earnings Aussie's in particular. Keating set the country up, he was a game changer. And he had balls. Aussie politicians on all sides have none now.

Reith was a turd, the moral successor to Phillip Lynch. I'd rather Keating than Mrs.Squiggle, and even Abbottt to Rudd. Things are bad when Abbott looks preferable. We can only hope he will mature in office. . Keating had the strategic sense to understand the world and the balls to act in it in a way that was to Australia's benefit. .

oh how I wish we could have another Hawke or Keating as PM, Rudd was a nerd, Gillard is a liar, and Abbott, "god help us" if he ever becomes PM, he'd be worse than Howard, he'd make the Howard years seem nice by comparison.

@pauliejay a country after 11 years of John Howard
-
@raff23 Um Abbott is rather low in the polls.

I used to live in Australia, a country with politicians who could string intelligible sentences together. What the hell country am I living in now...?

be dumb as dogshit towards them and treat them like idiots and you will gain their support, have a look at how abbott has drummed up his support, by saying the same stupid stuff over and over again.

@GoddyofWar never heard a more truthful statement said. Uneducated morons actually think keating was 1 of the worst we have ever, stupidity at its finest and the country is full of it., yet we had a conservative bozo do bugger all for 11 years and parade himself and his peanut lieutenant costello as the best economic managers the country has ever had all because keating left them with the prospects of a dream economic era. Keatings 1 mistake was to try to be smart to the public.

The 1996 Election was a statement to the flat out stupidity of the Australian people at the time; Paul Keating was the best PM we've had in the modern era, and we pissed him into the wind.
Keating was the best at thinking on his feet and making his opponents seem easily flawed
