This has to be the HAPPIEST coyote I've ever seen.
-
Wow! He's fast! No way any roadrunner would get away from him.

HE IS SO COOL

@wyocoyote00 I would get an orange hunting dog vest for him. It would be horrible to see anything happening to him and as I live in Wyoming too (wasn't hard to figure out with all the sage brush and your name) I know how they are viewed out here. Never know that vest might save his life!

He's so beautiful. I don't understand how anyone who has ever loved a dog could ever want to hurt a wild canid.

Shreve,
Your book has brought me peace and comfort. Your gentleness shines through in Charlie. Charlie has changed my opinion about coyotes. You're an amazing photographer. I'd love to sit across your table over coffee and chat with you! You have a unique spirit!

such a beauty in him and the landscape! I bought the book and its awesome!!! My deepest respect for Shreve!

Charlie is tame', his parents and littermates were killed and he was given to Shreve to care for. He is also nuetered so he is indeed a pet, but a challenging and interesting one.

What do you feed him? its amazing what you have done, I live in mexico and when I go out hunting to the ranch I get a lot of Coyotes in traps, I love them so much I dont hurt them. Once I came across 2 pups but I could never tame them so I left them alone. What does he eat? This is quite remarkable and I really really think this is something far greater than just a pet coyote. Congratulations!

why the chain?

Oh, I knew this would be a Big Thing when I was putting the video together; hoped it wouldn't be but I see it is. Sorry if I sound a bit short, I am just getting weary of judgment when no one has any experience with Charlie, a rare few have experience with life in the rural west, and yet so many feel entitled to criticize and judge from their vantage point.

(2 of 3) Charlie's leash is a long rope tied to a shorter length of light chain where it clips to his collar. It's chain because he can sever a one-inch thick leather strap in four seconds (I've timed it), his teeth are just so sharp, and though he doesn't have issues with a leash, there have been a few times when he has been frightened where he has gnawed at the leash where it attaches to his collar so he can hide. That is why the top is chain - so he cannot cut through it

While I was videoing him, I kept his leash on because I part of my attention was focused on videoing. He's not tied to anything. He's running with the leash behind him so that I could catch up to him quicker and grab the end of the leash if he took off. You must understand that if he ran off without me by his side, he would get shot from the road. That's not an exaggeration. Aren't there certain places where you have to keep your dog on a leash for his safety? - S.S.
