In 1990, Amtrak's City of New Orleans [#59] heads south out of Memphis, Tennessee. The train was traveling on Illinois Central's Grenada Sub. Usually this train would have at least 1 vista dome, but this time it didn't.

Extra Note: Engine numbers were 345 & 363

  • The F40 era lives on...

  • @ned987 most of them on NJT were former amtrak locos

  • @Espeelover They're still around- I see them all the time here

  • I love these old City of New Orleans videos you have. Hehe I just saw 363. It works for Tri-Rail now as #810. I think they may just keep running it forever lol, it still pulls 3 car consists at 79mph.

  • I know it's not, but that consist looks like the Crescent from the early 80's!

Awesome video and horn, and cool crew! Fantastic!

  • Well Metra in Chgo still has those F40PH's. Love the way they sound. Guess i'll end up with 6 HO scale models (Kato) of them.

  • Nice horn!!! Wow best horn I've heard from an F-40PH!
