This an old family recipe, Hungarian/Polish, which is strange because my family is Scotish/English! A stewed chicken with sour cream gravy! Perfect for a fall get together! Enjoy!

  • no no no.....traditional paprikash has no wine

  • I have been told many different ways on how to make this. This was taught to me by an old polish woman. She used wine, and it seems to work for me and my family. If you would like to PM me the traditional recipe, I would love to try it. Thanx for watching! (Even though YT removed the music!)

  • this was great!!! My hubby is 100% Hungarian and my mother-in-law taught me to cook Hungarian meals. You have this very very close to how we fix it. In fact I almost like your way better and might try to 'sneak' this meal to my family. I think the thing that will get them will be adding the wine, but I bet that is a wonderful compliment to the dish. I also make (no-ket-lee) tiny homemade dumplings with our Paprikash. Again, I really enjoyed watching your version.. Cook on!

  • Thanx so much for the wonderful compliment! I make this for my family on special occasions and large gatherings, it is quite a job sometimes. But it is soooo good! Actually I have found if you use "cooking" wine as opposed to the real stuff, you will get a better result. The key is not to over-season I think, no garlic or anything like that. Your little dumplings sound killer. You "Cook On" too! Thanx so much for checking it out!

  • thanks for posting!

i'm 50% hungarian, & this is my absolute favorite!

i love cabbage rolls, too...i actually just had some today!

  • You are very welcome! I am not Hungarian at all, but there is some polish in our family. Apparently, in my family, I am the only one who knows how to make this! LOL PS: I had cabbage rols last night! Thanx for watching!

  • SORRY GUYS, BUT YOU CANNOT LEARN TO COOK HUNGARIAN FOOD ON YOUTUBE. YOU NEED TO ASK A R E A L HUNGARIAN, JUST LIKE ME, TO TEACH YOU.

THIS RECEPIE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CHICKEN PAPRIKASH. SAME WITH THE GULYAS.

  • This sounds amazing! I'm going to try it right away. (with the wine ;)

  • completely wrong.....get a big mac mate

  • @Spammyguy712

No wine and it should be made with homemade pasta. No stringy pasta like you used more like mini dumplings.

  • My dad's whole side of the family is from Hungary, so we make this dish on every occasion that we can. The only difference is that we cook it without the wine and on spaetzels. Yumm! Thanks for posting this video so that people who haven't tried it, can start living! lol.

  • They censured the sound :(

  • Could anyone tell me what's the polish part and what's the hungarian part in it? I thought paprikás is a hungarian dish...

  • Everything looks good except the use of the wine. Also I usually just brown my chicken right in the pot just to save washing another dish. And traditionally it is served over spaetzels. But I too use noodles for convenience.

  • My grandmother was from Hungary and she cooked this a little differently. She used homemade dumplings or spaetzle and put the chicken and gravy over that and it was the bomb. I make it once in a while.
