  • I've seen this movie several times. (Well, the original, none-dubbed version) I'm not sure if I want to see it in English. I'm so used to just reading the subtitles. My kids love this movie. They've never heard it in English though. It's amazing how enthralled the kids are in a movie that's not even in their own language. The pictures tell the story. And the kids use their imagination to fill in the blanks. Nice review though.. Maybe I'll take the kids to see it in english after all.

  • That's awesome that your kids love the movie. =)

Dubs are pretty controversial, but I personally encourage them because I'd rather the general population see a supposed "gimped" version than none whatsoever. Call it a gateway drug into foreign cinema.

  • "Ponyo is better and larger than life, and it's an absolute perfectly flawless movie made by God himself impersonating a human, calling himself Miyazaki."

You could as well have said that. Dude - stop praising the movie all the darn time. Could you at least TRY to be constructive??

  • @tallblondnloud Me too! Mononoke was edgy and brilliant and beautiful! And San was just beyond sexy I'm sorry but it's true lol.

  • @tallblondnloud Howl's Moving Castle is my favorite. It just has such a cozy feel to it.

  • beautiful, in every sense of the word. I don't mind the dub either, I found the english Ponyo (character) quite endearing actually, and since its primarily aimed at kids the dub was a neccessary move. For the older crowd, I'd say view it subbed, although the dub is perfectly fine, compared to something like Whisper of The Hearts dub.

  • I love this, but all through the movie I was thinking the company disney mde this and that anime should've sued no matter how good it was...woIwas wrong!

  • You wouldn't expect a love story to work when the couple are a pair of five-year-olds.

This works. It is a wonderful movie.

  • The movie stinks in english they shouldn't of dubbed it

  • Movie sucks, well it does in English anyway it feels like a Disney movie.

  • @PBanimation He's actually macing Porco Rosso 2 sometime in 2012 or around then, though it's very early in production now. I haven't seen the original, though I plan to, because from what I heard it's his best!
