We dont want our dog to lunge on leash, so we ignore the behavior and wait for them to stop. As soon as they stop we reward them, and soon theyll figure out what youre looking for.

  • How likely is it that the dog will learn that barking and lunging followed by return to owner equals treat? In other words, "If I lunge and bark and then look at me owner I'll get a treat" therefore training the dog to do the unwanted behavior in order to earn reward.

  • Question: What is the difference to your dog between rewarding the lunging and rewarding him when he stops? It obviously worked, but what is it that tells the dog what you want?

  • Is the dog wearing a genle leader anti pull harness?
