John Akpata is a writer, poet, journalist, musician and political activist. He was a member of the 2003, 2004 and 2005 Ottawa slam teams and is the current Ottawa Capital Slam Champion. He was also the 2004 Ottawa CBC Poetry Face-Off Champion. He released Kerheb, his critically acclaimed full-length CD, in 2005.
