i want to try this and am wondering , can i set my plate on a subwoofer that is hooked to a sine wave generator?

i would like to see the same experiment done while adding a dye that takes some time to diffuse as the plate is vibrating... maybe the results wouldnt be all that interesting but i am still curious.
thanks yt

You can definitely set a plate on top of the subwoofer, but it be unstable and will not vibrate as well as it could. Here are two alternative methods: I. If you have a subwoofer with a waterproof speaker cone, you can put a small amount of water inside, or II. You can carefully remove the speaker cone, but leave the driving coil intact (be careful not to cut the lead wires when removing the cone). When the cone has been removed, you can connect the coil and plate with a central support rod:)
