Here's some behind the scenes footage of Rich Mullins rehearsing with the band he was touring with at the time, Avenue G, before a concert in Columbus, Ohio. This is part 2 of 2 clips featuring Rich demo-ing two songs that were new at the time and later appeared on his "World As Best as I Remember it Vol. 1" album: "Boy Like Me/Man Like You" and "Where You Are". It also features an a capella version of "The Star-Spangled Banner". Rich seems keenly interested in what a certain person out of frame thinks of these new songs, I have no idea who it might be. Beaker has his back to the video most of the time and tunes the lap dulcimer. Avenue G was founded by Lee and Nicki Lundgren, I'm not sure of the names of the other band members.

  • Doe anyone know WHO the girl is singing to Rich's left?? She's awesome too. Wow. Rich certainly left musicians the road to follow in serving Jesus the way he did.

  • I believe her name is Nikki Lundgren (not certain of the spelling). I really dig her voice, too. I can't track down any Avenue G albums anywhere, I'm assuming they recorded something at some point.

  • Oh...that was Todd Rungren....oops. So I guess that they are not related, lol.

  • She's the wife of Lee Lundgren who I think is the melodica player in this video. Lee and Nicole co-wrote "Eli's Song" with Rich (on Brother's Keeper)

  • That is really cool. Thanks for sharing this.

  • The guy in the Skyline shirt is Kent Roberts. "Kent Roberts from Texas" was how he always introduced himself. He sang BGVs on one tour.

  • This is awesome

  • Wow this brings back memories. This was one of many of Rich's concerts I went to. Almost 20 years ago! I can't remember where this one was at but I think the time after this I saw him @ Shepard Church of The Nazarene. Rich was an incredible person to know and his simple faith and views still have an impact on me to this day.

  • Beaker is definitely not the dude in the skyline shirt. He's in the first video laughing with the guitar.

  • Are you absolutely sure? The guy in the skyline sweatshirt looks like one of the guys from Avenue G, and I don't believe Beaker was a member of that band. Plus it would make since that since Beaker co-wrote these songs, he would know how to play them on lap dulcimer. There's are pictures of Beaker and Avenue G on Rich's "timeline" web-page, but I can't post links in YouTube comments.

  • Beaker is actually the one with glasses wearing the Skyline sweat and helping rich finish words to Boy like me.

  • thank you just plain, thank you
