  • Continuing...power is not always pleasant. Listen to Kipnis, Reizen. You do not have to imitate them. Think a lighter tone rather than heavier. Good luck.

  • Continuing...Your voice is powerful, has good projection. What I think it lacks is "schmalz", that dark core enveloped by a soft sound. In my mind you sing with too much "nose". I would like to hear more "chest" and lesser volume. There are many basso parts that require more lyrical tone production, like Sarastro, like parts by Bellini and even Verdi. Usually a basso who sings Mephistopeles does not sing Sarastro or Osmin, at least not on stage. Try to sing round, mezzoforte tones.

  • I saw your questions just now. The type of bass voice I like is the rounder softer one like Shaljapin, Pinza, Greindl, Siepi. They are bassi cantanti. Furlanetto, Ruggiero of today are more lower bass-baritones. Pape is a cantante too. Frick, in my taste was an excellent profundo. Giaurov a serio/cantante. As I live in Scandinavia the best basso cantante I have heard on stage is in Gothenborg, Anders Lorentzon who delivers an excellent Philippo.

  • Dear Andrey,

From what I hear you do not sound as an Osmin basso regardless of the low D. This part requires a profundo which you are not. I listened to your Mephistopheles and in my mind you are a dark baritone or perhaps a bass-baritone. Your technique is too nasal and has little "belly support" and "chest" that would have given more roundness to your tones, both high, middle and low. Try to sing Bellini´s Rodolfo with round open tones just to train. No bel canto, no opera! Try!
