  • Since we are using a radio frequency, a warm sensation can sometimes be felt but is usually less than a degree in temperature.

Re: table vibrations - This is normal as well and a result of the gradients that run the machine which are turning on and off very rapidly. Thanks for question.

  • It is hard to stay still. But it is a powerful tool.

  • Can muscle strains and tears be seen in the thoracic area of the back? I was diagnosed with a strain but my MRI results said nothing bad showed up

  • @gnortonshores Severe strain or ligament or muscle tears can show up on MRI, but mild or moderate ones may not. Muscle and ligament strain mostly is a clinical diagnosis made on physical examination. MRI mainly looks at the bones and contents of the spinal canal, looking for disc and bone problems. Thank you for your question, and it is a good one that is often asked.

  • I HATE MRI Machines AND MRI scans. They are so noisy and annoying. I had a couple of MRI scans done for my seizure disorder and they are NO fun at all. You have to lay still and NOT move at all and you have to put up with those annoying noises.

  • @Trailerhooddef5 Yes, they are loud and annoying but they also can be life-saving. A good trade-off.

  • I experienced my first mri this evening. I had a brief moment of panic but calmed down and we were able to complete the mri. I noticed that my skin became quite warm during the scan. I experienced some pain in my lower back. Not sure if thats because the table is hard or if the nerves were agitated by the scan itself. The bed your on does vibrate somewhat, but hey where else are you offered health care, a movie and music for free! Im curious to know if others experienced warmth of the skin?

  • I had an open MRI on my thoracic spine and no disc or spine problems etc were found. Doctor said it was a muscle strain but it must not have been a bad one. The loud noises did not bother me too much but it is hard to lay still the whole time!

  • I am so sorry for your pain. MRI's are a powerful tool. Best of luck.

  • Im getting a mri on my ankle this morning, i fractured my fibula 3 months ago,now the doctors think i have torn ligaments or something because its still very uncomfortable.
