  • I agree with tunnelportterror, I have both EL84 PP and EL84 SE (both of the shelf units) and the SE seems to sound a lot better, no louder just plain gooder. :)

    Of course I still want to make a side-by-side comparison like this but generally the SE seems more pleasant.

  • well, in your opinion, which one is better ? I've tried many vintage push pulls Fisher 500C, Pioneer SX-2000, RCA consoles, voth 6V6 and 6BQ% push pull arrangements, and gave up on push pull. None have the detail of my Akai M8 SET's with 6BQ5's. The push pulls come close, have more bass, more output watts, more volume,  but less detail. The Fisher and Pioneer were actually somewhat of a disappointment.
