@molecularash yeah, that's what happens. it sucks. i didn't mind the first franz ferdinand album to be honest. it's funny there's a line in kurt cobian's journals where he said maybe in a few years we'll resort to playing spineless dance music like gang of four. and look, that's exactly what happened. he also said i'm not sure what we're going to do next, maybe we'll revive new wave. and again, exactly what happened.

@roejogan8 in the early 00's dance punk came into vogue again in nyc (for like 6 months) this caused the rise of a ton of shitty clone bands. between ESG samples and Gang of Four rhythms, this xerox'd trend spawned a ton of rip off bands copying the first rip off bands (examples: Liars, Radio 4, the Rapture). After that, every twat on the planet seemed to make trendy disco funk songs while wearing neon ray-bans. after a 2 decades of listening to GO4, i didn't need to hear another 10 years of it
