Part 2 of 4. This is an early, scrappy, rough-around-the edges performance of a solo piece I began to create back in March of 2009, via the NYU Graduate Acting Program.
"The uniVERSE project" is a reflective, genre-bending piece that is part concert, part cabaret, and part extended monologue. The piece operates out of the conceit that I am a human DJ/turntablist, capable of "scratching" into and out of different songs, characters, and phases of my life, ultimately combining rap, song, beat-boxing, and anecdote (with a dash of humor), to weave a compelling and poignant picture of how I view myself, and my place in the world.
The most recent performance was produced by the Chautauqua Theatre Company in July of 2009, which was a smash success, and I am continuing to work and smooth out the edges in both the structure and performance of the piece while fleshing it out and seeking out potential producers.
Please remember that this is a work in progress.
I thank you for watching!
