With the proper choice of components you can have exceptional results with OS X. In this video I show off the consistency of S3 sleep which is usually absent from most OSx86 systems. Running is Snow Leopard Build 10A394 in x64 mode and there is NO CMOS reset on this board.

  • Mother board ?

    Cpu ?

    Ram ?

    Video card ?

thats pretty much what I need to know...

  • Mobo - MSI P45 Platinum

    CPU - Intel Core2Duo E8400 3.0ghz OC'd to 3.6ghz

    Ram - 6GB A-Data DDR2 800mhz

    Video card - EVGA 8800GT 512MB (Flashed with Mac Pro 8800GT EFI/Bios

  • so what parts are you using...looking to build a 100% compatible system...does everything work ?

  • I don't like to say everything works usually, because when someone says that, that is new to OSx86 it gets construed. However, as a pro at this stuff I'll tell you this.... Everything within the realm of OS X on a PC works. Graphics, audio, network, usb, sleep/wake, restart, shutdown, etc.

  • may I ask what monitor is that. It looks great!

  • To be honest this monitor sucks. :P It's a low quality TN panel and has really bad viewing angles. It's actually my roommates I used for the making of this video. I have a Westinghouse L2410NM monitor which I think is great but the monitor doesn't sleep via the HDMI connection. I just wanted to show people that the system was in fact sleeping fine. :)

  • Nice build. well done

  • I have a GA-P35-DS3L and I have S3 sleep too. Everything works flawlessly with a DSDT Patch and about 5 kexts. I'm using Chameleon RC3 as my bootloader (EFI) but thinking about using BootThink instead because It can boot Windows/Linux properly. I'm running in *arch=i386* mode so I can use Parallels and VMWare fusion. I can boot in 64-bit mode too.

    I have a Q6700 in my build w/ 4GB Corsair RAM, a Gainward 7900GS (256MB) which is really old, but still works excellent. I'm running 10.6.1. :)

  • If I'm not mistaken, there may be one thing that doesn't work properly. If you were to have a kernel panic, I believe that you would be unable to see the kernel panic dump after rebooting because of the way it works with native Mac components. So although it's extremely rare to experience a KP on a proper Hackintosh setup, if you do, you are unable to confirm what the problem is because the readout information is unavailable.
