Thank you so much for this! I use interchangeable circulars and - unless I buy a special cable - can't get tips small enough for sock knitting. I've HAD to use this method with DPN's. Every other demonstration has SAID it will make JMCO on DPN's easy, but has in fact made it look monstrously hard. The fact you've laughed and struggled along and - most importantly - been honest about how complicated that first round is going to be has helped me immensely! Now onwards with the rest of my sock :)

Thanks Kate, you've got to have a sense of humour about such things :)
Having said that, you can always try just the cast on and first round on a circular, then change to DPNs if it proves too difficult.
