This video looks at the game that took place between Hetul Shah and Nurlan Ibrayev on January 11th at the 7th Parsvnath International Open chess tournament in round one.

At only 9 years old, Hetul Shah has entered the chess history books by being the youngest Indian chess player to defeat a chess grandmaster in a chess game.

While the grandmaster made a mistake in the game, Hetul Shah showed an an amazing ability to capitalize on the position and win the game, especially when one factors in his age!

Congratulations to Hetul Shah for his historic chess win!

  • what is the significance of the child winning with the black pieces that is mentioned as an important fact at the introduction of the video?

  • Generally speaking black is a move behind from the onset of the game. It's small, but noteworthy especially in this game.

  • I absolutely love the vids you make but please stop removing people's comments then replying to them

  • I dont remove comments and reply to them. Sometimes the author of the comment removes it afterwards. Not sure why exactly, but it generally happens when they say something incorrect. Thanks for checking out the vid!

  • 5:41 rock A2

  • The GM's blunder (b3) was very idiotic. I can't believe this was actually considered a serious game.

  • i like your website

  • At 04:45 and at 04:50 total other positions.

  • I like your chess videos :) just a small question what program u use to explain the chess games? Cuz I like the didactic arrows and circles that show your explanations

And another 2 questions , do u have a favorite phone chess app to play chess online? And what's your rating?

  • are u good at chess !

  • Its Hé-th-ul shah :)

    loved the video :D

  • 17.b3? is a poor move, but it's 19.Ne2? from which White's defeat stems. This position has happened before in a game from 1952, in which White played 19.Rb1. After 19...Qxd4 20.Qf3, Black is a pawn up, but it is not hopeless for White. In fact, in the 1952 game White managed to salvage a draw.

After 19.Ne2, Black walks over White for the rest of the game.
