Offering food to the dead is just another example of how our culture refuses to admit to the reality of death. There may be an after life but I seriously doubt that the participants of that life can make use of food deposited at a mausoleum, lol. Sorry to hear about your prostatitis, I hope you're feeling better at the moment!

@Peter777t Yes, it is sad to realize how un`intouch we are about death still. Food will not help the spirited away. Our body no longer requires this :) I am feeling very good, thank you! :) How are you?
