Carnegie Mellon University's National High School Game Academy (NHSGA) program includes a blend of hands-on exercises combined with traditional lecture and discussion. The NHSGA is inspired by the university's Entertainment Technology graduate program and provides exploration in the video game industry as a career.

  • Overwhelming nostalgia.

  • Sarah is my best friend in the whole world, and I met her here on the very first day! Such a great program, such a great experience. It literally changed my life, in a very good way.

  • @PwnageFoU No problem! Good luck too!

  • @themaskedman115 Thanks a lot for the input man. I'm certain I'll apply to NHSGA now. Good luck with your studies!

  • @PwnageFoU I'm actually in a similar boat, heck atm I'm applying for neuroscience at a UK Uni! Really, it was the experience of seeing them made and making them, that made the experience worth it. The teamwork, the art, the programming, the independence, the social lessons: all were invaluable life experiences. It's the breadth of life experience I got from the NSHGA that made it all worth it.

  • @themaskedman115 Do you want to go into a career in game-design? I don't think I do, but I definitely want to design them as a hobby.

  • @PwnageFoU I'm originally from the UK, so I can from across the pond to go to the course. Personally, I had a blast. The TAs are great, and the course content is interesting and the final project gives you a chance to show off your work. Worth it. (AMA)

  • @themaskedman115 How was the academy? I'm thinking of applying to either this or a 3-week Arabic course at Columbia. I want to major in ECE at CMU and I love videogames and robotics.

  • I got a pamphlet in the mail explaining this, and i think it is interesting. Although $7,000 is quite an investment i might try it out.

  • This is sooooo cooooooool.

  • Noobs. Indie devs owns these guys

  • I wanna do this, but $6,475 is a little steep. :(
