We could overcome our future challenges, but it would require a huge change in nearly every faucet of our lives. The average climate denier is far more concerned about the societal changes required to overcome climate change than any potential consequence of global warming.

@LakeRaptor It is ridiculously simple. The hard part is....do you have any U-235? I don't, and it is intensely hard to obtain weapons grade uranium, and most people dont have the centrifuges and sundry hardware to purify even the famous yellow cake. Of course there are minor considerations, like its high toxicity.

@charlesburton95 I agree on those guerilla tactics. I also agree they can be sustained, as long as its well equipped and disciplined like nobodys business. I am certain they've learned a lot of new tricks, and are likely wary, but with that 1/2 mile long driveway, they may as well call to say they're coming, but further, I have a telescope that can see Saturn's moons. The last 3rd of that driveway is a dam to a 24 acre pond. Ravines obstruct any other ground ingress, without a ton of effort.

@painxtreme Of course when a society breaks down, you also have great splits in a military. Some will refuse to fire on their own people, some will form their own, reckless groups, some will do the right thing, and some will serve da Man. How something like that plays out on our scale is unknowable, but its one hell of a factor. On the ground, Im confident, like I said, Im not really detailing the defense fully. If an ethical group wanted, what I can offer more than anything is space, 185 acres.

@painxtreme A boat would be a good idea if it were not for the following problems:

1.) Takes a lot of knowledge.

2.) It has to sit in the water

3.) Sitting in the water means eventual rot/rust

4.) Rot/rust are bad for your WROL boat :P

Other than that, the guerrilla tactics described in Patriots WOULD be an effective measure against a good deal of post-America armies, assuming they don't learn from Iraq/Afghanistan now.
