The Love Bugs performing live at Aspley Leagues Club (Brisbane) in 2001.
Featured are Love Bugs (from left) Cara Nabbs, Megan W, Lauren Street & Katie Baines.
Megan & Lauren were both 15.
The girls were all very talented and it is no surprise that Megan has achieved outstanding success, including recent wins at the ARIA Awards for 'Breakthrough Artist' & 'Best Female Artist'. She was also nominated for 'Album of the Year' & 'Single of the Year' in 2010.
Other ex-Love Bugs include:
- Natalie Blair (2001-2005), formerly of Channel Ten's 'Neighbours', who is
currently residing and auditioning for projects in Los Angeles. Natalie was
nominated for the Gold Logie in 2007 & 2008 for Most Popular Personality on
Australian Television;
- Polita Cameron (2007-2008) from 'Neighbours';
- Erinn Swan (2001-2005) who recently returned from a two month sojourn in Los Angeles where she secured a publishing deal for herself (she's written for the new Veronicas album) and a recording deal for her band, Wonderlust. Erinn is Sony Music's A&R scout for Queensland. Oh, and her father is the Deputy Prime-Minister of Australia;
- Coralie Tapper (2009-2010) who has only been in Melbourne since February
and already hosts her own TV program on Channel 31 called 'Get Cereal', a
breakfast variety show. Move over, Kerri-Anne!
The backing band is The Darren J Ray Band featuring (from left) Dale McCartney, Darren J Ray, Frank Barrenechea & Arnold J Lovejoy.
Darren J Ray & the Love Bugs remain a very popular local act and also perform in 4BH's "The Fabulous Sounds of the Sixties Show" (Winner - Best Production Show at the Entertainer of the Year Awards for Clubs in South Qld - three years in a row) which regularly plays to sold-out audiences.
