i think i've read somewhere, that the whole story is kind of true, but not exactly... so, i think this story happened to more than one family in america. maybe in germany, england, japan ... everywhere...

but the main characters were created by the producers. it's a pitty. i would have send mr. reiben a nice letter if he's got a sexy grand son looking like him now. :-D

@xxpaminaxx The opening scenes of the historic landing were constructed from the testimony of survivors who were invited to check the authenticity on a private viewing. It was so very reailsitic that they all broke down, The private Ryan story tagged on to the historical one was fiction.Superbly done on both counts though.

I'm one of the rare chicks who enjoys these types of movies. I may not like them because of all the violence like boys do, but just how real everything seems and it really gets you to think about war. I really love this movie. The acting was superb on everybody's part, even the other Ryan did a great job despite the fact he only had like a two minute role. Tom Hanks will always be great. Thanks for posting this and now I'm off to watch it.
