Hello, this video is just to show my fire kit (fire and steel) I made a video showing how to use these tools, but it lacked sound, so I thought I would make this video explaining what I did...I hope it helps to explain what I was doing in my other video...ENJOY!

  • Were did you get the carbon steel striker?

  • ebay, many blacksmiths make them and sell them on there...

  • hey, i ur vids always help me so much, i have a question, with that "bird's nest" frayed twine, how much uf that small bunch do you use to start a fire, the whole thing or just like half of it?

  • the more you use the longer the initial fire will burn so you cna get the small kindlign to start burning, you dotn ahve to use much at all, but the bigger the next the easier it is to get it going...

  • do u ever actually use these things in real situations? why do u have so many different fire making stuff? surely u dont use them. its interesting, but i cant see you ever having to use them. also its ember, amber is solidified tree sap which coincidentally can be used as a fuel.

  • yes I have used every single thgin you see hre at least twice to amke a fire for camping and recreation...gettign aire going to maybe cook some food in some cases or just to sit around on a cold summer night...

  • where did you get the flint

  • @hihlari The oxidation would not occur without the friction. Physical energy converted to chemical energy. Sodium will burn on exposure to oxygen.

  • @danny99999999999999 Hey guy, You can also use a file. I have gotten a cheep one and broken it into pieces about 3 - 4 inches long. Some files you can just start using but it will eat up your flint faster. In my area there is no natural flint so I rub the edge of the file on concrete to rub off the ridges. Some files also have a coating so you have to do this then. You don't have to rub off the flat sides of the file. This works fine and is cheep. I did this before I bought a blacksmith striker.

  • @cutlerylover Fuck you Jeff you fucking suck at life!!!!

  • go to my website flintandsteel.20megsfree. com/

  • go to flintandsteel.webs.com

  • Actually the spark doesn't come from the friction, but from the rapid oxidation of the small iron particles that get loose on impact with the sharp edge of the flint. In other terms: pure iron ignites when it gets in contact with air.

The iron you are holding in your hand is already oxidized from the surface, thus there is no burning or heat until you scrape away the small parts from it.

  • @EditorialResponse I dont think its legal..... probably coz there is so many things that can kill u there..... I mean a forest can hav things that kill u but i mean the jungle is insane! i just look at the beggining and it looks like a death trap..... even though i would mind doing what u suggested :P but i dont think so due to the laws of singapore..... -.-

  • @superknight660 Many elsewhere do not have what you have and never in their lives get too see what a jungle or thickly wooded forest actually is. What I would do if I were in your shoes, if it is legal, would be to get with a survivalist or well trained person in the military from your country and learn how to live in the jungle/forest for fun at 10, 60, 120 or even 365 days! Practice building shelters, small controlled camp fires, learn what plants are edible, etc... should be lots of fun!
