Penguins win their 2nd straight cup. Doc, Bill, JD, and Jiggs wrap things up, plus the great SC America theme. This was the final NHL game on SC America, NHL moved to ESPN the following season.

  • You know, I'm not usually a big person on color commentary, but Bill Clement in this video basically gave the best little monologue you could hope to ever get after any type of championship game or series. Seriously, that gave me pause and I'm not even a Hockey fan (Football was and still is our household watch-it sport).

If all color commentary could be like that, sports in general would be better for it.

  • I too enjoy listening to Jiggs McDonald and remember when his color commentator was Eddie Westfall. I remember the closing credit music, have not heard it in years...really good stuff

  • Doc Emerick still wear glass's now

  • The NHL has gotten a raw deal as far as their exposure in the United States is concerned. Not once has the Stanley cup Finals been broadcast in its entirety on national network television. What other sport has a potential clinching game, Game 4, on cable?

  • Sportschannel America sucked. It was in less homes and was a premium channel in some areas.

  • This vid brings up a few memories.

    1. Growing up in Philly and missing Doc and Bill Clement do Flyers games.

    2. Watching Blackhawks games on SC America and digging their announcers.

    3. How much I enjoy Jiggs Mcdonald as an annoucner as well.

  • outstanding retrodan, thanks for this. didn't have cable growing up when the Pens won the Cups, settled for listening to Mike Lange. But I always wonderered what the telecasts were like. Thanks

  • Wow, look at Doc Emerick there, sporting the glasses.
