My final project for my digital media class is a trailer for a horror movie about Facebook, titled One Missed Notification, that parodies the 2008 thriller, One Missed Call. However, instead of receiving phone calls from their future selves revealing the date of their death, characters in my movie receive various Facebook notifications from their dead selves. As an addicted Facebook user, I am so absorbed in Facebook that I neglect to see the negative impact Facebook has on my life. The digital world, rather than the physical world, is becoming the reality of the Facebook generation. Because we preserve records of our lives on Facebook, we are losing a sense of who we are, and computers are beginning to know more about us than we know about ourselves. Our concepts of interaction and reality are now becoming digitalized as people continue to live through Facebook even after they die. It is disturbing that Facebook allows us to satisfy our pleasure of watching others' drama unfold in the physical world through our anonymous stalking in the online world. What do you think? Is Facebook changing our definition of reality? http://www.wikikitchen.net/2010/12/one-missed-notification-final-thoughts-abo...

Based on the following three articles we read in class:

"Facebook Exodus" -- Virginia Heffernan, The New York Times (2009)

"Friends to the End and Beyond" -- Michelle Slatalla, The New York Times (2009)
