Aftershocks cause panic in China - 14 May 08

China says more than 18,000 people are buried under the earthquake rubble in just one town alone.

Aftershocks are causing more panic.

And heavy rain is hampering rescue efforts and delaying plans to parachute in soldiers, they need to fly in because roads have been torn up by the quake across Sichuan province.

Al Jazeera's Melissa Chan has this exclusive report from the disaster zone.

What are you talking about? I hate the Chinese government. I know they are doing a good job right now but if it wasn't for the negative image they are getting they would handle it like before (like in Burma).

Bit suprised about the reacting of the Chinese government. Well exactly not, they want to make a positive image and don't want to look like the Burmese government.

Look at the relief response in China, compared with the government neglect we see in Myanmar.

If the Myanmar government won't take world aid, just hand the pilots of the relief planes a new flight plan - to Schezwan Province in China, to help the earthquake victims!

At some point the military leaders of Myanmar will need to be brought to justice for allowing thousands of their own people to die by neglect. But in the meantime, send the supplies to where they will be used and appreciated.
