Sri Lanka rebels deny UN war crimes claims - 17 Feb 09

Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels have denied UN claims that they shot civilians fleeing the country's war zone and have been recruiting child soldiers.

This made the Sinhalese majority rise against this unfair policy when they achieved independance. The Sinhalese went overboard with some policies and the LTTE was born, The LTTE had a ruthless leader and carried out a horrific campaign of terrorizing the country for 30 years. The position of the general Tamil citizen is now much better than what a black or any other ethnicity has in the US currently. Neither community wants anything coming between their relations right now.

The Srilankan Tamils have a history of struggle commenced originaly in absolute peaceful and nonviolent methods.Their reasonable requests were responded with violence by the Srilankan govt. The President Rajapaksha regime is desperate to show themselves as the true 'liberators' of the Tamils and hence the spin-doctoring of the humanitarian mask, while the civilian Tamil people is going through systematic genocide.Tamil civilians are not in a position to trust their lives with the Sinhala army.
