  • I'm the white shirt on the bench on the edge the sidewalk in the background. Obviously in error, from ground level it looked to me like she purposefully flew or jumped. Beautiful, smooth, downward arcing flight back to the west where she landed, not entirely graceful, on the ledge. I've been looking for this video ever since. Thanks!

  • @Shelama That is so funny that you could see yourself in the video..do you know who was yelling and was it related to her "fledge"? Its nice to hear that at least after she fell, she had a graceful flight back to a ledge. A fledgling in Columbus, Ohio wasn't that lucky last year...she slipped off the ledge, probably hitting her head on the way down and died...very, very sad...When I saw Bobbie slip, I was so afraid she would have the same fate.

  • Hi all, the 4th fledge, the oops, flared, and tried to catch herself as she fell ended up on a sill about 20 ft below nest. Walked north and south on the sill, didn't like the sun, walked around corner into shade. Sat there til some lunatic waved a towel at her and then she flew off into the gardens where she was caught, then banded and released on the beehive. All is well with Bobbie except that she's a bit younger and slower to get moving. Parent feed all the kids still &will for a couple wks

  • @cardlizzy Thanks so much for that info. After seeing your pic of her on the ledge, I figured that somehow she managed to flap/slide/flutter to safety...now, who and why the heck would someone wave a towel at her...

  • @skygirlblue Don't know who was yelling, but it wasn't me. She disappears from view just after she appears to pass over my head (perspective; she didn't make it near that far east), and began her arc back to the west. It was wonderful happenstance: I hadn't seen the webcams for a week, nor ever even been to the JSB/plaza before. I saw nothing when I 1st looked up, and almost walked away. I didn't know the others had flown, and thought they might all be laying low. It was great!

  • @gamzeli255 I don't think she hit the ground. If you look at the pic that Liz posted on her blog, Bobby must have flapped/fluttered to a lower ledge. I think that must have been where they captured her for banding. Liz also posted a very cute picture of Charlie amongst some flowers...

  • @gamzeli255 The good news is that she is ok. The first place I would check for updates is Liz's blog

or you can try the Bird Cams Around the World Forum. If she has time, she'll post updates there as well.

I'll go back and edit the comment section of the video to include both of those links.

Right after #4 slipped, Dad brought food to the box to feed, found no one there..Mom followed him up, grabbed the food and took off...Dad made a sweep of the box. When he left, he almost collided with mom...sure do wish I had caught that on video!!! You probably saw one of the parents leaving the box..
