  • I heard ya mention mink oil... I hate that stuff lol. Take a look at Obenhauf's Heavy Duty LP. In the 30yrs I have been backpacking its the best stuff(better than Grangers) I have ever used and will not cause problems with resoling.

  • I use the Scarpa SL M3 for my backpacking trips(50+ miles.) Scarpa makes an awesome product.

  • the Scarpa Summit GTX is a very good boot !

    you can use it even for via ferratas, traditional alpinism and ice climbing

    The boot does flex, although it does have a full shank. However, the shank is made of nylon composite which I believe gives it its' limited flexibility.
