  • @danyelf you're absolutely right. I love this documentary, but it bothered me that he so bluntly ignored the momento mori, just so that he could squeeze "The Ambassadors" into his interpretative framework.

  • That's just how you see him.

  • He never changes his shirt.

  • interesting that he discusses the Holbein without mentioning that it is, for all its decadence, a memento mori. The artist's slanted reference to the failing of all of the acquisition of those possessions that he had depicted, and indeed even the image he had produced.

  • It's interesting to think how this applies to social networking sites and the profile picture.
