My 26, stocked with 1 Jelly Bean, 2 Blood Red Parrots, 3 Flame Tetras, 1 Pink Kissing Gourami, 1 Gold Gourami, and I think a Chinese Algae Eater. Filtered by and Aqua-Tech 30-60 and also has AquaClear 30 Powerhead. Heated by Aqua-Tech Heater that came with 29 Gallon Aquarium, not sure of the wattage.

  • that thing is so overstocked it's making mah eyes hurt! ouch!

  • @Kristrat I know...no excuse. Other than the actual crowding factor though, they're fine. They get along, and I don't have any place else to rehome them to.

  • @stw9495 yes there is man, you put them in there... sheesh, but im not gonna give you hate mail like most people probably would or should, but you need a bigger filter, a protein skimmer would probably work best in that situation even a diy one, but also get some cichlid pellets man, those wardley tropical flakes just arent cuttin it, youll get less wasted food and better growth on the blood parrots, good luck

  • @smokinjojo74 interesting...I was not aware that a protein skimmer would do anything on a freshwater system...I actually ran mine with just freshwater in my sump when I first got it (before installing on my tank, just for the heck of it) and it did nothing at all...water must have been too clean I guess. Learn something new every day!

  • @mistermustang66 thanks for the debate though, ive read alot on protein skimming before and if you have something as overstocked as that your boundto have alot of d.o.c.'s in your water column, thats why they use big skimmers on koi an goldfish ponds, becuse theres alot of shiza to be pulled fromthe water column, if you dont want to take my word for it just look up clarity protein skimmer in the search engine at the top, it most defintely works on freshwater

  • @mistermustang66 of poop or whatever it may be on the surface of your water

  • @mistermustang66 actually no, i meant a protein skimmer and yes they do work for freshwater, maybe not as well but foam defractioning works off of the principle that the dissolved organic compounds are attracted to the postive charge of the minute bubbles of the limewood airstone or foam injector, and that it pulls the d.o.c.'s from the water column, and also thats why most protein skimmers draw the water from the top of the reaction chamber towards the top of the tank, so you dont get that film

  • @smokinjojo74 I think you mean a surface skimmer? Protein skimmers dont work on freshwater....saltwater only

  • take the rocks out!!

  • Makes me wish I still had my 26 gallon bow front. Stupid Hurricane Irene.

  • Does anyone think a rubberlip plec would be fine in this tank?
