A video of my flight aboard the Yankee Lady, a WWII B-17 bomber at the Lost Nations 2010 Airshow in Willoughby, Ohio. An experience I'll always remember to say the least. The flight was smooth and not as noisy as I expected, especially on takeoff. Flightpath was from the airport, north over the lake, east to Fairport Harbor, south to Painesville, west to Cleveland and back east to Lost nations Airport.. Total flight time was 35 minutes but with preflight and taxiing, close to an hour of enjoyment of the wonderous sounds this bird has to offer. And the views, WOW! Once aloft, you have free reign of the airplane and can move just about anywhere. But my favorite spot was the open rear observation position just aft of the upper gun turrent. When I say open, I mean open to the air with only cross bars separating you from inadvertently exiting the plane. LOL My only regret was not having my father with me who took me to airshows from when I was a kid. He was a mechanic for P-47s during the war and how I wished when he was alive, I could have taken him up in the bomber. So in his place, I brought his mechanic wings with me so in spirit I can believe he was flying with us. If you get the chance to catch a flight, do it. You won't regret it.
I would live in this Aircraft day in and day out lol ;P B-17G Love for ever
