First used on the Tour de France in 1911 the Col rises to 2645m and is often the highest point of the tour. The climb to the top starts at Valloire on the one side climbing 2120m over a distance of nearly 35km. The other way the climb starts at the Col du Lautaret which is already at 2058m and from where the summit is only 8.5km away.
The Col is normally closed in the winter.

  • @2joseignacio we climb this mountain a few times with the bike and in motorhome! :) hemos subido esta cima varias veces! en bici y en autocaravana. Mitica! Marco Pantani, Fausto Coppi.. cycling mountain legend! where soul can be near to heaven.

  • Jajaja, ¿Jesús cuantas veces lo has subido con tu hermano Luis Javier en bicicleta?.. pero si solo hubiese sido el Galibiert, jajajaa, también el Glandón, la Croix de Fer, Lautert y las miticas 21 Virages de L´ Alpes D` Huez, Des Alpes, y muchos más quedaron a vuestros pies. jajaja yo tambien los he subido , jaja pero en autocaravana
