its all very well saying who comsats influenced but who influenced comsats? pere ubu and marvin gaye are two.
-
Influence like this is a good thing or we might never get bands like Interpol who are inspired by previous music. Critical comparisons in music and other art forms is just complete lack of imagination and creativity. Everything is equally repeated and exhausted yet original in its own context. Comparisons like that are bullshit. Say something original and interesting about a band for a change. Sublime track.

thank you for posting vinyl treasures of coures its a hard song ...
-
@WelfareRobot Not to mention Joy Divisoin and The Chameleons.
-
@WelfareRobot Are you trying to say that you don't enjoy the concept of modern bands
taking INSPIRATION from incredible bands from the post punk era? Ungrateful elitist.
Interpol is fucking amazing, especially since they are the ONLY band carrying the
post punk banner. Get real.
-
@WelfareRobot Think less "ripped-off" and more lovingly inspired:P
-
No-one can stand the smell of fear.
-
@WelfareRobot Ripped off Joy Division also.
-
Have this 45 and is different than the album version or any other version. Like this one best.

Ah. Now it becomes clear exactly which post-punk group Interpol was ripping off!

Written in November 1980, first aired on 1 Jan 81 on John Peel's Radio 1 show.
Proper tune - remindes me of everything going on in England at the time...the football, overcowded terracing, all the lads turning casual nationwide, the gigs, the clubs, Tory rule, decaying city centres, the Summer riots of 81, on & on.
Sometimes frightening but great times!
