  • It's a variant of the "No soap, radio" joke. The purpose of the joke isn't to provide a logical punchline. The joke is instead a test for the target. It's aimed to test the target's willingness to conform to social pressure, even if the social norms have no practical rationality, ie: laughing at a joke that makes no sense.

Within the narrative, Roger tells a similar joke to Jake to test his mettle. He's essentially saying, if you stay true to your instincts, the streets will respect you.

  • The actual purpose of the joke was to see how many faggots would go on the internet claiming some kind of bullshit gratification because they think they understand it.

  • It's not that hard to get, people. No matter how long you're away (whether you go to jail or just disappear for a while), there are people on the street who will never forget about you, especially if they have a beef with you. The snail hadn't been there in a year but the guy on the porch acted like it was yesterday. There's nothing psychological about it.

  • THIS JOKE IS ABOUT RESPECT THAT'S WHY ALONZO TELLS THE ROOKIE IT'S BULLSHIT CUZ ALONZO DON'T RESPECT ANYTHING

  • I tell this joke to people just to confuse the fuck out of them

  • @hasbor I know, I'm repeating what Alanzo said

  • i thought it was just a joke that wasn't all that funny

  • lets not forget that the main character is is high as a mother fucker in his scene he was smokig weed/ pcp just before he got there lol

  • @terminator847 its just a joke, you should laugh now

  • @ease4shese dead on bro...alot of people dont know the streets..the joke was to test his manhood..i.e. laughing at stuff that's not funny, etc etc...because he laughed, Jake showed himself to be easily manipulated...

  • I personally can't stop laughing every time I watch it. Each and everyone of us could give his very own explanation; yet you can't be sure, you're just pretending.

  • What I got out of the joke is about prison a person get thrown away for a year for doing somthing only to come out do the same shit that put them there in the 1st place,,,,thats just what I get out of it
