Authors@Google: Barry H. Landau

Presidential historian Barry H. Landau visits Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss his book "The President's Table: Two Hundred Years of Dining and Diplomacy." This event took place on February 25, 2009, as part of the Authors@Google series.

Barry H. Landau is a Presidential historian and one of the foremost collectors of presidential memorabilia and artifacts. He is the author of The Presidents Table-200 Years of Dining & Diplomacy, the first volume of a trilogy inspired from his world class collection. The Washington Post referred to Landaus connections that bridge the world of politics, entertainment and theatre.who has built a network of the powerful and famous, creating a niche as a liaison between the axis that spins between Washington, New York, and Hollywood. At the age of 10 he had a chance meeting with President and Mrs. Eisenhower, who invited him to the White House, and he has been collecting ever since. In his later life he has worked with nine Presidents and every White House since Lyndon Johnsons planning historic events. In an article entitled Americas 100 Best, Landau was named Best Collector by Readers Digest in 2006. Known for his collection of presidential menus and invitations, which surpasses those of the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress, his total collection exceeds more then 1.2 million artifacts. He has been a frequent network commentator on matters relating to the Presidency on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, and MSNBC, and has served on numerous Presidential committees. He resides in New York City.
