12/7/2008. 60009 Union of South Africa speeds across the fen country from Norwich heading for Ely and then the ECML. Due to 'electrical' problems near Wymondham it was running about 45 minutes late.
As can be seen Shippea Hill still has a traditional level crossing, though the semaphores have gone, except for a couple of ground signals for use with the crossover. The signal box has been refurbished in recent times and does not appear to be slipping into the fen as it used to be.

Great little video and well filmed.Hope that carbon trading and offsets does not affect steam train running in 2009 and beyond.Watch out for the pollution police in coming years!

Good vid. 5*. It must be one of the few rail crossings left that is manually operated.
