um...2 miles of RACING. practice and race pace are two different things. when you are doing that many consecutive races, your body builds up lactic acid from the swims before hand and it causes fatigue/soreness.

People who can't do something themselves always say it's impossible for others to do so. He was willing to do something others weren't. There's always going to be a select few who are willing to do what others aren't and the rest are in a delusion they work just as hard or harder and put others achievements up to drugs. You can see by the fact that he improved on a lot of those times at a later date he was fatigued.
