Wow. I saw a local incredibly skilled punk/alternative band play this in a shithole bar a week ago. I was absolutely blown away when they played this, but i knew it was a cover. I found the band on youtube, but could only make out a few lyrics in their version. I've spent the last half hour picking bits and pieces of lyrics and putting them into google, till i found this. I've been listening to the kinks for years and was actually listening to them earlier today, go figure lol.

This and Mindless child of motherhood are two of Dave's best. Like George Harrison's old brown shoe and not guilty. They are classic.

60's, 70's,80's,90's and the noughties to that is five decades of writing and performing and another one just begun will the Kinks make their mark in this decade to , plenty of time left yet :) LOVE THEM SO MUCH x

And that was a B-side!

@athrough0 Their 80's output was incredible too, man. They inspired New Wave 10 years before, and settled right in when the movement came about. Don't undersell Sleepwalker - Word of Mouth, especially if you want to appreciate the "full extent" of the band.

@rockgardner. -- You are absolutely right !! Case in point - the Stones!

Just really enjoy the range of singing in this song. The Kinks are awesome

It's not really fair to argue who's better because it's all subjective. In my opinion it's probably fairer to say the Beatles where somewhat overated while the Kinks were somewhat underated. The one thing the Beatles did do which the Kinks and most other bands with a large catalog of recorded music didn't do is know when to quit. There's little to no mediocrity in their relatively short but prolific career.

I am in Heaven with all this great Klassic Kinks music - they are the greatest band that ever lived. GOD SAVE THE KINKS

this song proves that you have to have heard every single Kinks song from the 60's/early 70's to ever appreciate the full extent of the band. They're endless!
