Its beautiful. But also hear Rockwell Blake, André d'' Arkor, Michel Sénechal and....of course David Devries. Enjoy !

His voice is so much richer than that of Florez whose light voice doesn't fit the aria well.
-
Nobody could equal this perfection, which sometimes seems to me almost unreal.
By the way: 1965, Amsterdam.Conducts Jean Fournet the ,,Radio Filharmonisch Orkest".

Many famous singers could have sung it with beauty, power, right notes of course etc. But Gedda is second to none in his ability to create so much emotion, "electricity and passion". His expression in the voice is unmatched: so precise, so communicative. That's Gedda's magic. His high D's are also unmatched.

In the first post the first ? is 'a' and the other two are 'e'. The accents are missing.

1)
Viens, gentille dame,
De toi, je recl?me la foi des serments.
A tes lois fid?le me voici, ma belle!
Parais je t'attends!
Viens, gentille dame
Que ce lieu solitaire
Et que ce doux myst?re
Ont de charmes pour moi!

Has anyone got the lyrics?
I'm surprised there are so few recordings of this... everyone flocks to 'ah mes amis', when this is equally as impressive ;-)

I must say, though his timbre is not as intrinsically even as Fritz's throughout the scale, his interpretation beats Wunderlich. I have never heard Wunderlich sing a pianissimo in his recordings, but Gedda's recordings are full of thoughtful changes in dynamics.
