2008 Honda Fit with a check engine light and will not accelerate past 3750 rpms making it very unsafe. Bought at Brown Honda in Charlotttesville, VA. Repair attempts have been made at 4 different dealers, 5 different times. Hagerstown Honda (Hagerstown, MD), Honda East (Columbus, OH), Brown Honda and Rule Honda (Staunton, VA) Anyone else have this defect or problem that is similiar?

  • Was the automatic ... there was actually several things that can cause the vtec not to kick in and according to the dealership they replaced the oil pressure sensor and the coils ... sooooo ... hard to tell what was causing the issue ... just glad I don't have the vehicle and it is not my problem any more 8)

  • I fixed the problem on the fit bought some aftermarket coil packs from this site got it in 3 days and now my car runs fine again... honda does shit like that my friend had a prelude one time and he brought it to them to fix the problem with the check engine light he paid them 400 to change the altenator thats what they told him to change but problem was still there.. honda dealers are BS man. don't get me wrong honda is good cars. dealers just suck balls y0.

  • @tomagotchii ... I have to agree with you there ... the dealers and corporation seem to not care about the customer once the vehicle is sold ... if they only realized that I was going to spend probably another 300k through my lifetime for new vehicles, but not now 8(

  • I got a 2008 honda fit auto and does the same thing at 4,000 my car is at 64,000 right now but it started at 54,000 miles I love honda but honestly they lost my business... i'm going with nissan from now on my girl has a nissan rouge and its wonderful 43,000 now and no problems yet. my fit, breaks went out at 20,000 miles, stutter at 54,000, light issue, this car just sucks sorry that honda didn't fix your car and still under warrenty thats totally BULLSHIT...!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tomagotchii ... yes it was ... but, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to wait them out and be patient through the court process ... most people depend on one vehicle and cannot 8(

  • There is an oil pressure controlled switch that the activates the VTEC and opens the secondary intake valves at 3500 to 3600 RPM.. It's no big thing to replace and will fix the problem.. I'm a fucking idiot and know that.. Sure says a lot about the people that dealerships hire to service what they sell.. I've had a Fit since 2006 and it has never been into a dealership for anything....

  • Your engine is not getting enough fuel. Therefore I believe you need a new fuel pump.

  • Is this manual or automatic?

  • could be low oil preasure too, if its the 1.5 vtec model anyway, the low oil preasure would cause vtec no to kick in and it usually kicks around that rpm

  • I just went through this with a 2010 Fit, they said it was the coils. Lets see if it runs fine now. I think I'm going to trade it in actually.

  • @sneyepr yeah sucks, I've heard that a few time, after warranty is gone. :( thing i you think thats bad. my family only buys honda (me acura) and have the occaional problem. my GF's family drives German engineered Volkswagens. great driving cars but WOW lots of problems. bad starting in the winter, fuse always blowing random problems and mechanical failures. you can REALLY notice the difference, glad i have a honda

  • @wongmylesa ... it was never fixed ... I took Honda to court and they ended up buying it back and paying for my attorney 8)
