A key scene from Visconti's "The Damned" (1969). The interactions between characters are telling of the evolving plot, and the dialogue is important both for the story as well as historically - in that it refers to historic events, namely the burning of the Reichstag in February, 1933 when the action is happening. A conspiracy theory states that the Nazis burned the Reichstag themselves and framed Communists, in order to sway the population against Communism in the upcoming elections.

Director: Luchino Visconti
Cast: Albrecht Schoenhals, Dirk Bogarde, Charlotte Rampling, Ingrid Thulin, Helmut Griem, Helmut Berger, Umberto Orsini, Reinhard Kolldehoff

  • Michael Mcgee

Dr Albrect Shoenhals spoke good English and still looked young for his age.this movie had no sex in it ,but it was x rated in 1969.It was the first x rated film to be broadcast on the late show c.b.s Thursday night at the movies, back in 1973. There was a big up roar about after words.I back then ,I was a 16,I did not see any thing shocking about it
