This is yet another chuck missler commentary i decided to upload and share with the world. The most logical and thought out briefing i have ever heard on the end-time events.
Not to mention, what did Israel do during the destruction of the 1st Temple? There wasn't a Messiah they could reject then, what did they do for atonement? Answer: Prayer, Repentance, and Charity. God himself prescribes these things in the TNK.
Leviticus does NOT say that "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins" that is from the book of Hebrews. The TNK does not teach that atonement is ONLY by blood. Leviticus 5:11 describes what to do if you cannot afford a blood sacrifice. It prescribes a grain offering. Of course no sacrifice will be accepted without repentance, but repentance without sacrifice is accepted over and over again for full forgiveness. Look up the story of David when he confesses his sin to Nathan.
@carpenter0909 Also the Antecedent is not "He " in vrs 26 but ." People" also People is the subject, so the subject dose not change and the He returns to it place of use as the Messiah. Check it out..
It very well could work as the Messiah, The "many" are the Jews to which the Covenant was made, covenant in this context could also be Promise, The Promise God made to the Jews that the Messiah would come at the conclusion of the 70th week, (The Prince that shall come is clear) , but that wouldn't necessarily mean its the covenant keeper, in this set of vrs. I would have to argue that its worth looking into. read my thought below.
It is worth at least considering the Idea that the "He" in vs27- could be the Messiah as the intire section of vrs are about the Messiah , vrs 24 threw 27, and the reference to the "Prince of the people" is a type the "anti christ", from the Raman people. (I think Chuck could be right, But )_ The "He" prince referring to the roman people is only an identifier for people and gives insight to where the Anti christ will come from,
Vrs 27 returns to the subject that Christ the Messiah is being cut off, that is to say sacrificed, for our sins, fulfilling the final atonement and the promised covenant, before turning the Grace to the Gentiles. He the Messiah, therefore causes the "sacrifice to cease".
(Later in Daniel 11 and 12 we see the anti christ working again, on the desolations that are determined. but the abominations were committed by the Jews, in their rejection of the Messiah, and it is a common Old testament study that the result is the desolation of the wicked generation. remember Messiah says "your house is left desolate" to the Jews before his sacrifice on the cross.
Their abomination and lack of recognizing his return cause a great recompense upon them un till the consummation which is the consuming fire to come. ( "the abomination of the desolater," Antiochus Epiphanes) a type of Anti christ.
