Oscar and Grammy award nominee, Eezham born music phenom, Maya Arulpragasam, in the PBS interview on Tavis Smiley show Thursday told the U.S. listeners and fans worldwide that "there's been a systematic genocide which has quiet thing because no one knows where Sri Lanka is. And now it's just escalated to the point there's 350,000 people who are stuck in a battle zone and can't get out, and aid's banned and humanitarian organizations are banned, journalists are banned from telling the story.

I respect Maya so much. I cannot STAND when people put her down because her music is different. She's pretty much the only mainstream artist who still has substance in their music!
Half the morons who put her down on yt, or in general for that matter, do so b/c of her politics. She's radical (at least she likes to use messages, icons and lyrics that wink at that), so it comes w/the territory. What happened to the Tamil population, especially in the last month of the war, was truly barbaric. And given her family history, it shouldn't be surprising that and liberation struggles in general are key to her music.
We must not worry about LTTE or armed rebellion. There is a powerful tamil global diaspora and it is their duty to expose the Sri Lankan Genocide to the world in a political manner. Sri Lanka as a nation is in the process of paying a very heavy price for supporting this genocide. They face a falling economy and a complete fascist military regime where freedom of expression has gone out of the window completely. Maybe then all the ignoramuses who supported the genocide will realise the truth
Sinhalese have no class. we ourselves were one of the victims of sinhalese. Our property in colombo was taken over by one of the riches in srilanka - The Ethirisinha group. These are the riches use sinhala nationalism to drive out tamil businesses and tamil people altogather. We know what it mean by dealing with Sinhalese first hand. This government is sheer brutal and this problem will not be solved by the end of LTTE.
Sri Lankan State Terrorism killed over 20,000 civilians in the last four days of the war. They killed 35,000 babies and woman to capture 7,000 tiger soldiers. Other countries that sponsor state terrorism like Cuba, Iran, China, and Russia blocked the rest of the world from charging SL Gov with war crimes. This doesnt mean its the end of it. Rajapacsa brothers will pay. There is no other choice but to take up arms again.
