@MyrridinMhmm well personally i think its all a matter of opinion :P i mean some people think that God rules over everything we do and that he is our master. others feel he just watches over us and so on.
anyway i think im just gonna enjoy the song now :)

After all of the time I have been listening to Thrice, I never gave this song a full play through. Wow, I like it! Well, of course I'd like it ... it's Thrice.

Personally this is probably one of my favourite songs, as a norwegian I've learned as a little child that you shall respect the ocean, and if you think you are a "master of the sea" you won't survive very long.
I love the mysterious and haunting tone in Dustin's voice, I honestly can't describe the feeling I get while listening to this, it's both relaxing and dreadful at the same time, and I love it.

@olivemitten Child of Dust- we spend our lives apart from God, and when we die we return to our mother, and the "dirt" we were made from (each human being made in God's image)
Whether intended or not, this is just beautiful symbolism. I love this band and this album.

Holy shit!
Looking at these songs as being from God's point of view, they mean something different entirely.
The Flame Deluge- the way we use God as our excuse for all sorts of violence and terrible acts, like the Crusades or other, more mundane things.
Kings Upon the Main- that God is in charge, and hopefully we can be humbled enough to see it
Silver Wings- God does so much for us, and most of the time all we do is curse him, instead of seeing his love

@kocin87 The musical message aside: God does not "rule" us. It is not our master. It is us. It humbles us as we humble ourselves. It is not the man up in the sky. We think we control it, like we think we control ourselves, like we think we control nature, but we don't. :)

@xblindx & @chelseaortego08 Given the last two verses, and given their latest album (Major/Minor), it seems like Dustin is using the seas perspective as an analogy to God's perspective. We are a prideful and that think we rule it all but God does things to humble us to hopefully bring us to the realization that he is the master. The last lines about how grace is still found during a seemingly tough time and the mention of fear and reverence makes me think this is God's perspective.

@chelseaortego08 or God/Life

It forms such a strong sequence of pictures in my mind....so pretty
The last song for Each element is in the form of a sonnet... a writing form for poetry. The most famous person to use this form of poetry writing is Shakespear! These guys are inteligent, and the music is much much more deep than just the outlying appearance.

this song was made it the seas perspective.
the lines"When kings upon the main have clung to pride And held themselves as masters of the sea I've held them down beneath the crushing tide Till they have learned that no one masters me" explains what the sea believes.
