Christiane Noll sings "Back to Before" from Ragtime

Christiane Noll performed for the MTI Broadway Teacher's Workshop with Stephen Flaherty's "Back to Before" from Ragtime. Christiane will be playing the roll of Mother when Ragtime revives in the fall.

Hmm. I guess only rave comments are allowed since my original was deleted. Will you at least let me say that she's not my cup of tea and that I prefer the distinct and powerful voices of Marin Mazzie and Rachel York over this? Christiane is perfectly competent, but nothing special IMO.

I didn't even realize this many posts had been responded to the video. I don't know how your original post was deleted, but I didn't do it. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Personally I actually do like Marin better overall, but I have not seen the full production with Christiane. I'm just a huge fan of hers from Jekyll and Hyde.

Oh she's soo good....but damnit she's not quite the league of Marin Mazzie, her voice doesn't have the maturity and fullness. My only reservation with this show is just how in the world do you ever top Brian Stokes and Marin Mazzie and Audra Mcdonald? It was just casted so perfectly to begin with

@theatreluvr There are actually many vocalists who sing with power, so who are you to say they are better than Christiane. There are different types of voices and different people will have different preferences. You don't actually find many people with her voice type, more so you find people with power, but sometimes less is more. She is has a great voice, just not your preference, gotchya.

I saw Ms. Noll at the Kennedy Center and on Broadway. I also saw Ms. Mazzie on Broadway. In all, I must sheepishly admit I have seen "Ragtime" more than ten times. As much as I liked the 1998 Broadway production, the Kennedy Center did it better -- Ms. Noll is perfect as Mother.

Christiane and Marin both have such distinctively different voices, you can't really compare them. They're both unbelievably talented performers. (Though I ship Marin)

DEfinitely not. She mixes the ending buddy. You can hear the head tones. You should realize that very few women full out belt. Unlike men, it is much more difficult and tiring on their voices.

she is AMAZING

her performance in the show was by far the best!

however, i think i like marin mazzie's voice a bit better BUT christianes acting was what i like to call perfection haha
