  • I'm kinda sick about the pirate story. Not going to lie. I'm glad the pirate made it back safe but I'm not dancing on the dead like everyone else is. There is so much more to this story that's not being reported. Everyone is like "YAY we shot 'em in da head! Now lets roll some eggies!"

I'm just not as jubilant. :/

  • You all should see why they are resorting to piracy and why all the local fishermen support the pirates. $300,000,000 in fish every year is illigally fished out of the somalia coast every year. Toxic waste and other shit is dumped there, there is radiation poisening in lots of the people along the coast line. look up how many barrels of shit washed ashore after the tsunami of 2005. sure there are some bad pirates, but they have to protect they're country somehow... id fight back

  • You forgot About Harry Kalas! He died that day

  • "the only way available to them." Yes... an entire continent, and only one way to survive, be a pirate. Yes.... then that would make all of Africa pirates, be a pirate or starve to death, NO OTHER OPTIONS. Sinful behavior is OK if you are in a desperate situation. Hitler was "courageous" and "brave" enough to do what he thought was right, even if it was wrong. You my good sir, are completely retarded. Sometimes, I wonder when we are going to have a leader to round up people like you.

  • did the pirates think they had a chance?

fuck man, i don't know what was going through their mind.

  • I don't thrill in the bloodletting and won't excuse media that do.

It's a tragedy that at least one of the pirates was a child and this is a larger social discussion of the plight of 3rd world kids.

But your comments cross a line. There is nothing courageous about anyone who takes up arms against unarmed civilians. I won't call them "terrorists" like some of the media, but I will call them thugs, kidnappers, and criminals.

  • These kids weren't warlords, they were just trying to make a living the only way available to them.

And they were more courageous than most people.

What a pathetic display, fat lazy citizens of a huge bully country--including liberals, not just right-wing ogres--cheering the killing of brave and desperate poor people.

  • Ya know, I never expected the media to be that fucking bloodthirsty.

  • I feel for the people of Somalia too, but there is no excuse for taking unarmed civilians as hostages by means of armed force.

The pirates aren't freedom fighters, they are the oppressors. They are warlords turning their country into a failed state. Don't make excuses for them, they are the reason the country is messed up. If there are "freedom fighters" in that country, they should turn on the warlords and take their country back.

  • Agreed, it is kind of out of place, but I guess they have good quotes...

  • Until the next semi-cooked heroism story comes along.
