Lauter Sonnenschein (A Clear Sunlight), Tango (Componist: Eduard Künnecke) - 1-2-3 (1 Orgel - 2 Flügel - 3 Musikanten) mit Gesang, Odeon 1940

This old tango (composed in 1920s by famous Eduard Künnecke, a senior of German Operetta-composers and a father of later very popular vedette of the Nazi Germany - Evelyn Künnecke) here is played in a new & fashionable early 1940s arrangement "à la beguine".

I found no details about the mysterious 1 - 2 - 3 Ensamble. The German description in English is: 1- Organ, 2 Pianos - 3 Musicmen (meaning probably: a rhythm section) with the Vocal Chorus (= mit Gesang). The rendition is lovely and very professional, though. Probably a few well known musicians (these two pianists! aren't they excellent?) formed a "1-2-3" group to record for their pleasure a couple of sides.

  • Such a masterful tantalization of beguine! I would think the repopularization of this magnificent music would be epidemic in demand and presentations. The young people are missing out on this superb music.

  • Love the rhythm and the orchestration. Not too many beguines around, or are there? Good Berlin photos!

  • Great pictures! Historic sights of Berlin.

  • Nobody except you, G.

  • Thanks not only for this mellow beguine, but for indirectly making me look up the word and learning about the 12th century women's religious communities known as beguineages. But how it came to mean a Caribbean slow dance is beyond me.

  • Very nice. I agree about the pianists; the vocal group is great, too.
